Atrio Wine Bar & Restaurant is located in the very beautiful Conrad Hotel in Battery Park!
The first thing you'll notice when walking into the Conrad Hotel on your way to Atrio is the amazing art and architecture inside. It makes for a very unique experience that's unlike your typical weekend brunches!
My favorite dish was the Orzatta French Toast with strawberry, blueberry and raspberry compote. Made with a brioche bread, the thickness of the bread was perfect as was the custard--which you could tell the bread had been soaked in for the right amount of time, letting it seep into the center of the bread. This was definitely a dessert on the sweeter side, but I absolutely loved it:
Need a bit more savory of a dish for brunch? I recommend the Chicken and Waffles. The name is a bit deceiving because these are not your typical fried chicken on top of a big waffle...
First of all, let me just talk about these waffles. They have real pieces of corn and cubes of chorizo inside. Secondly, the chicken is brick roasted (instead of fried) which not only makes it healthier but I think more flavorful as the skin has been seasoned nicely:
Lastly, the Duck Hash served in a cast iron skillet with potatoes, onions, tomatoes and peppers topped with a poached egg was a nice rustic dish. My only wish was that there was more duck!
I usually don't talk about coffee in a brunch review but when you order coffee at Atrio they bring you your own French press, enough for 2-3 cups. Not to mention the coffee itself was nice and rich and bold.
Now, I went for the heavier items on the menu but I have to say they do offer many healthy options. In fact, they have an entire section of the menu for "Fresh and Light", such as a chia seed yogurt parfait or the popular avocado toast.
My only complaint was the bacon was too crispy for my liking, otherwise a wonderful brunch meal with a nice sized and variable menu that would suit most. This is definitely a great spot to bring any visitors you have that want to check out the World Trade Center or do a tour of the Statue of Liberty and want to catch a nice meal beforehand!
