Luzzo's is not only serving up some quality Neopolitan style pizza but other Italian classics!
The first thing you'll notice when walking into this pizza place is that it's beautifully decorated. I usually don't take non-food photos but I just had to snap a picture of the inside of this restaurant:
If Italy had their own religion...
I came in for lunch during the week and unfortunately for me they don't start serving their signature cocktails until 4 PM...but luckily my friend was in the mood for an Aperol Spritzer and I wanted a Negroni after watching Anthony Bourdain enjoying them in Rome on a recent Netflix binge of The Layover and those were the only two drinks our server could make so we lucked out big time! I will say though that I'll be back to try their cocktails over some pizza in the near future because they all sounded so unique.
Good thing our server, who was from Italy, asked me what we wanted for appetizers because I got so enmeshed in the different pizza selections that I almost forgot to turn the menu over to see all the great non-pizza options they had!
I started off with appetizer portions of their meatballs and eggplant parmesan. Both were served with a beautifully colored red sauce that was simple in its taste.
The meatballs came four to an order and are a nice mix of beef, pork and spinach. Ask for some fresh parmesan cheese to sprinkle on top!
There's no frills for the eggplant parm--it's prepared in a very traditional way and is the perfect size to share as an appetizer or to get for yourself as a meal!
Now...for the pizza! I had to try their signature pizza, the Luzzo's BK, which had a tomato sauce base with fresh mozzarella cheese, speck (which is similar to prosciutto), fresh ricotta and truffle pate. At this point my very simple rating factor for food nowadays is if I would order it again. This, I would order again and again:
We also had the Arugola to pretend that we were eating healthy because it looks like a salad...but underneath is mozzarella cheese, proscuitto and shaved parmigiano cheese. I definitely preferred the Luzzo's and next time I really want to try the Aglietta with fresh roasted garlic!
Oh, and don't leave without getting these fried Nutella balls!
For good pizza and cocktails in a quaint restaurant space go check out Luzzo's!
