If you’ve ever had a black forest cake… that’s where I got the inspiration for this MUCH healthier smoothie version but not any less flavorful!
I actually started recipe testing this just for myself because I got in a rut of making the same smoothie over and over again (Chocolate Mousse Smoothie). Although delicious, everyone needs a little variety so when I saw frozen cherries in my grocery store I decided to mess around with it until I absolutely loved it!
In doing my research a lot of other bloggers had similar recipes as mine, but what I did was to add a non-dairy almond milk yogurt with a vanilla flavor which just made ALL the difference in this smoothie! It instantly made the cherry and cacao powder (the chocolate flavor) come together perfectly 🙂
Check it out!
- 1 cup frozen cherries
- 1 banana
- 1/3 cup vanilla almond milk yogurt I used half of a 5.2 oz individual packed yogurt
- 1 tablespoon cacao powder
- 1/4 cup non-dairy milk I used oat milk
- 2 ice cubes
- 1/2 teaspoon honey or agave
Place all ingredients in a blender and blend on high for 15-30 seconds or until fully blended!
