I was inspired by Dean’s French Onion Dip to create these delicious French Onion Sliders, which are also really easy to prep for a large group! Adding caramelized onions to any sandwich or burger in my opinion just makes it so much better and adds such deep flavor.
I just loved the combination of Dean’s French Onion Dip with the caramelized onions and some yummy gruyere cheese!
Ingredients
Caramelized Onions
- 1 large white onion
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 1 pinch of kosher salt
Sliders
- 1 pound ground beef
- 6 slider buns (preferably potato or Hawaiian rolls)
- 1/3 cup Dean's French Onion Dip
- 1 1/2 cups Gruyere cheese shredded
Instructions
Caramelized Onions
-
Add butter to your saucepan on medium heat. Once sizzling, add onions and stir until well coated. Season with a pinch of kosher salt.
-
Lower the heat to low and stir every few minutes for 20 minutes. Cook for another 10 minutes, stirring more often until dark brown.
Sliders
-
Preheat oven to 350.
-
Shape ground beef into a rectangle that is slightly larger (about 1 inch all around) than your 6 slider buns. Heat a large pan (or griddle) on high. Transfer beef to the pan/griddle and cook for about 5 minutes per side.
-
Remove and let rest for 5-10 minutes.
-
If not already pre-cut, slice the buns lengthwise to remove the top and place on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil.
-
Place the cooked beef on the bottom of the bread. Top with gruyere, Dean’s French Onion Dip, and caramelized onions. Place top of bread back on top and bake for 10-15 minutes or until cheese is melted.
-
Cut into individual sliders and enjoy!
